Family Studies and Child Development are very important areas in regards to a child. The development of a child is very dependent on the social interaction that child has with their family unit. The dynamics of families are very divers as is the development of a child with in the families. There is a basic idea of a child's normal course of development allowing that the family structure is functional.

Child Development 232 - Human Development and Relations

 

·       This course allowed me to look at human development while emphasizing on the relationships of individuals and how that effects development.

 

Child Development 430 - Infant/Toddler Development in the Family

 

·    In this course, we explored the social and physical of infants and toddlers in relation to their family dynamics.

 

Child Development 444 - Risk and Varriation in Child Development

 

·         This course explored the types of risk factors that appear in children’s lives and how they handle these risk factors. The course explored how the risk factors can either help or hinder a child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

 

Family Studies 331 - Marriage/Family Relationships

 

·      This course explored the family unit, specifically the relationships between parents. This course explores how families functions , how they inhibit inhibit appropriate functioning and child development.

 

Family Studies 370 - Family Ethnic and Cultural Diversity

 

·        In this course, we explored the variety of family cultures that are here in the United States. We explored how the families function and looked at belifs and values for different cultures.

 

Family Studies 498 - Pro-Seminar: Conflict Resolution  

         

·         This course addressed the needs of conflict resolution with in the family unit. It explored belief systems, disfunctional communication and appropriate effective communication and problem solving.
